Piadina Bread

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ΒΌ cup lard or olive oil
  • 1 cup warm water

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
  • Add the lard or olive oil and mix until the mixture becomes crumbly.
  • Gradually pour in the warm water, mixing continuously until the dough comes together. It should be soft but not sticky.
  • Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and roll each into a ball.
  • Roll out each ball into a thin circle, roughly 8-10 inches in diameter.
  • Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Cook each piadina for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown spots appear and the bread puffs slightly.
  • Serve warm with your favourite fillings or as a side to complement your meal.
