Homemade Bierocks Recipe

Ingredients
For the dough:

to 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

ounce active dry yeast

sugar

For the filling:
2
pounds of ground beef
1
large onion, chopped

cups
finely chopped cabbage
Salt and pepper
Optional:
other seasonings like caraway seeds or paprika
Instructions
Prepare the dough:
Combine warm water, milk, sugar, and yeast in a large bowl. Let stand until foamy.
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Add yeast mixture and mix until a dough forms.
Knead dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
Prepare the filling:
Brown ground beef in a large skillet. Drain excess fat.
Add chopped onion and cabbage to the skillet. Cook until the cabbage is softened.
Season with salt, pepper, and any desired additional seasonings. Let cool completely
Assemble the bierocks:
Punch down the risen dough and divide it into equal-sized pieces.
Roll each piece of dough into a circle.
Place a spoonful of filling in the centre of each circle.
Pinch the edges of the dough together to form a ball, sealing the filling inside.
Bake:
Place bierocks on a greased baking sheet.
Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
Bake in a preheated 375°F (190°C) oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
